In recognition of Diabetes Awareness Month, Madison area Lions Clubs and Hy-Vee are partnering to provide free A1C screenings to the community.
A hemoglobin A1C test is a simple blood screening that measures average blood sugar levels over the past two to three months. Individuals living with pre-diabetes, diabetes, and other health conditions use this information to help monitor and manage their blood sugar levels.
While screening with a Hy-Vee registered dietitian, participants will have the opportunity to review results and discuss potential next steps. Lions Club members will also be available to talk about their health initiatives and other community services.
This collaborative effort, which began in 2022, aims to promote early detection and management of diabetes, a chronic condition affecting over 50,000 residents in Dane County.
